I have been a Peace Officer for almost 25 years, and I have taken every precaution possible to make my profession safer. Most everyone knows that the profession of a Law Enforcement Officer is inherently dangerous. Though my training and experience, I feel that I can return home after every shift without being killed in the line of duty.
I recently had thoughts of being killed by something other than my chosen career. I will be reaching the age of 50 soon, so just like my profession; I wanted to take precautions to extend my life. I realized that I have only two relatives that are older than I am; a brother that is one year older and my father who is 67; both of whom have had a heart attack and were treated by heart surgery. I also realized that my mother and grandparents were all deceased from some type of Coronary problems.
I recently learned of Doctor Duncan and ViaScan. I searched the internet and found information on both. I believed that ViaScan is the precaution that I needed to extend my life. I scheduled an appointment for myself and my wife. I have been one of those people that have said, “I don’t want to know, if I’m dying” or “there’s nothing wrong with me, I have no symptoms”. So the night prior to my ViaScan appointment, I barely slept. I kept thinking of my family’s history regarding heart problems. So I kept telling myself that if my family had taken precautions such as ViaScan then they may have avoided heart surgery and death.
My wife and I arrived at ViaScan of Las Colinas on our appointment date. The scan took about 15 minutes; we waited for about another 15 minutes and Doctor Duncan called us in to discuss the results. I watched on the computer screen as the images of my internal organs were displayed. I was amazed at this technology. My results were that I had a small amount of calcium in one of my coronary arteries which makes my risk of a cardiac event for the next 3 years, low. I will return each year for this scan and I believe that this is my precaution that can extend my life.
